九色视频 鈥 The Easton Planning Commission approved a plan to build a Zaxbys restaurant on Route 50 Thursday.
Developers for the restaurant largely quelled concerns expressed last month when commission members tabled architectural approval. Those concerns centered on the bright red and blue colors in design renderings.
Thursday, franchise co-owner and Delmarva Real Estate Management Group attorney Curtis Snyder presented colored renderings of an updated design, which includes additional brick around the 2,000-square-foot building. The new renderings were less 鈥渃artoonish鈥 in color and more accurately reflect what the building will look like, Snyder said.
Most commission members felt the updated design was an improvement.
鈥淭here are some existing businesses that have blues that are much brighter than this,鈥 commission member Laurie Forster said. 鈥溾 I don鈥檛 think it鈥檚 unacceptable, and I do think it could be a great addition to the restaurant scene.鈥
The Georgia-based franchise has hundreds of restaurants nationwide and is known for its chicken fingers, wings and signature sauces.

KONNER METZ/STAR DEMOCRATCommission member Tom Klein said the Easton Zaxbys will bring jobs to town and serve as an upgrade to the 鈥渆yesore鈥 that is the empty Wendy鈥檚 building.
鈥淚f this went down in flames, I don鈥檛 know how long it would be before something else came along,鈥 Klein said. 鈥淪o it could be sitting for quite some time like a lot of other empty lots on 50.鈥
Snyder said the Zaxbys building will be smaller than the former Wendy鈥檚, allowing for two drive-thru lanes that can accommodate 26 cars at once. 鈥淲e鈥檙e confident in getting people in and out,鈥 Snyder said in response to a question of whether lines may spill onto the highway.
During Thursday鈥檚 meeting, member Victoria McAndrews criticized the design, saying it鈥檚 鈥渧ery garish鈥 compared to other Zaxbys restaurants in the country.
鈥淚鈥檓 just not looking at this as an improvement over what was not satisfactory to begin with,鈥 McAndrews said.
Snyder said corporate isn鈥檛 willing to budge on the blue and red colors, part of the company鈥檚 branding efforts.
McAndrews said the commission is not doing its job by accepting designs pushed down from the corporate level.
鈥淭hat鈥檚 in direct conflict with what the (comprehensive) plan says for Easton that we鈥檙e supposed to strive for, which is not making it look like Anywhere, USA,鈥 she said.
鈥淚鈥檓 still getting blowback from corporate over this design,鈥 Snyder responded. 鈥淭hey do not want this brick on their building. 鈥 This is an extreme deviation in their mind.鈥
Following Forster and Klein鈥檚 comments, commission Chair Philip Toussaint and member William Ryall indicated their satisfaction with the updated Zaxbys application. Ryall made the motion for approval, and McAndrews joined the rest of the commission in voting yes despite her concerns.
鈥淚 think it鈥檚 an improvement,鈥 Ryall said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 not perfect, but nothing ever is.鈥
The Easton Zaxbys is one of three locations developers are pursuing as part of the restaurant鈥檚 Maryland debut, with the others in Cambridge and Berlin.
The Easton location is projected to open in late 2025 or early 2026, Snyder told 九色视频 last month.
